My Spiritual Approach
A Life Shaped by Play
Jennie grew up loving to play and sing. Along her journey she discovered that singing in community opened something profound: a sense of belonging and connection that dissolved the need for striving and performing and awakened a deeper calling – to help others rediscover creativity, intimacy, and meaning beyond ego and achievement.
Path Woven Through Music, Education, and Care
Jennie’s path has been shaped by a lifelong devotion to music as a source of connection. She studied Voice Performance at Northwestern University and sang professionally in a range of settings – from opera and musical theater to churches and weddings – while continually returning to what mattered most: singing in community. Her work expanded naturally into education and leadership. Jennie owned and managed early childhood music programs in the Boston area and later worked in nonprofit arts development, deepening her understanding of how creativity and play shape human beings across the lifespan.
For nearly twenty years, Jennie led a women’s song group rooted in joy, expression, and belonging. Open to all and intentionally non-performative, the group centered on singing for the sheer experience of singing – not to impress and entertain, but to connect. This lived practice became the heart of what would later evolve into Sacred Play.
Alongside her musical work, Jennie pursued graduate training in education and later earned a Masters of Divinity. She served as a hospice chaplain, accompanying individuals and families through illness, dying, and grief – an experience that profoundly clarified the relationship between meaningful living and peaceful dying.
